The Difference
Organic Baby Formula has been certified by the USDA and has to meet certain regulations. It’s made from either regular milk or soy milk (the same as leading or store brand formula), but the main difference is in how the milk has been treated. Organic milk is free from pesticides, hormones and chemicals found in regular milk, which in theory makes it a better choice for your baby’s delicate system than standard formula. However, some organic formulas have recently come under fire for their high levels of arsenic from the use of ingredients such as brown rice syrup. Often, organic baby formulas also contain high levels of cane sugar and additives such as ARA and DHA, which have been linked to health risks. It’s still unclear whether organic is best when it comes to baby formula, or in fact any form of organic produce.
